Has anyone else seen the new Tony Law GFS DVD? There's a really funny chat between Rich and Tony on it.

Nice entry, Richard, but "...slightly dull game." ??!!

(Joking of course. Everyone's opinion is valid, however incorrect.) ;)

Subject: Changing London [ REPLY ]

I apologise in advance if this is very dull.

I've been doing my family history and there's one central figure whose move to London changed the whole family story. After generations of people living in the same village in Dorset his father died aged 25 and his mother used family connections to give her eldest son a chance in the big city. He did pretty well and had lots of children. He married a woman from Bow, his children got married and scattered (most eventually ended up in Llangollen as it is so beautiful, except one son who married but had no children and died in his fifties in Camden). What's interesting to me is looking up the different locations that the family lived between 1841 and 1907. Most are in south London and apparently were referred to as the country back then. Bankers might have a home in central London but would spend weekends at their second homes in leafy Croydon or Mottingham, it was also where the fruit and vegetables were grown to sell in the city. As far as I can tell all the east London locations are now improved in comparison to the Victorian times and the south London places are all now more crowded and urban. It was the building of railway stations during my family's time there that started this off. It seems really strange to me that I had a big family living all over this place I don't like very much and certainly don't know my way around, and now no one. None returned to Dorset either, I would have quite liked to live next to Lulworth cove.

Am so sad to hear that The Arts Theatre is going.

I've enjoyed many lovely nights there and even once played there when I was part a now long defunct sketch troop.

Strangely enough the last performance I saw featured a chap called Richard Herring doing a show called 'Oh Fuck I'm Forty'.

Whatever happened to him?

RIP The Arts

So is that what Ronan did with Brian Kennedy then?

These are usually a photo of a grey haired man with an excessive suntan and grinning skeleton dentures, who for some unknown reason has taken up surfing. This is indicated by the surfboard and wetsuit.

Which if I were to buy and subsequently wear (the pants not the boys) would become deeply imbedded in my lardy bits and lead to the loss of my legs. I may still be able to fly a Spitfire afterwards though which would be fun.

There should be an appeal where famous people pose with obvious gay people to show they aren't homophobes and increase their sales 8 fold. Think about it Ronan.
